SANOG8 is the premier social and technical networking
event for the networkers of South East Asia. A large
number of networkers would be attending the event from
all over South East Asia. Participants would benefit
from interacting with experts in various domains on
core technical topics.
SANOG8 is different from typical technical conferences
that people in Karachi are used to of attending. It
is an extensive program of 8/9 days and comprises
of various program components.
SANOG8 will have the following program components:
1. Tutorials
2. Workshops
3. Conference
Tutorials are events where pre-planned and announced
tutorials take place. In these events, area experts
present a tutorial to the attendees in an interactive
manner. Tutorials are typically extensive in nature
and are meant for an audience with a specific level
of technical background knowledge. Presentations typically
presented in these tutorial sessions are peer-reviewed
and have already been presented in various other similar
events such as NANOG and Networkers.
Workshops are more exciting, more involved sessions
of technical knowledge transfer. Typically, workshops
constitute of physical networking hardware (switches,
routers, transmission emulators and PC servers) that
is networked during the workshop by the participants.
Teams of two or three participants are formed and
have access to these devices. The workshop leaders
then take along the entire workshop through a systematic
roadmap to achieve the defined goals of the workshop.
Conference is the more social (and slightly less
technical) program component of SANOG. It provides
a great chance to the participants to intermingle
with peers of the same industry from across the region.
A large number of techno-business leaders from the
local industry are expected to join the conference.
